Understanding the Significance of a Hole in the Heart: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatments

It's called chronic heart failure when the heart can't pump enough blood to the body. Heart failure lasts for a long time. Things are very bad and need to be handled and taken care of regularly.

In a healthy heart, the following things happen:

Muscles in the heart pump blood to all parts of the body, giving them oxygen and food.

Two rooms are at the top, called atria, and two rooms are at the bottom, called ventricles.

The blood that comes in from the body doesn't have enough oxygen. This blood is pumped to the lungs from the right side of the heart.

The left side of the heart sends blood to the rest of the body when blood from the lungs comes in.

This means that the heart isn't working as well, so it can't give the body the blood and oxygen it needs. This can lead to a lot of different signs and issues.

A lot of the time, people get heart failure because

Chest heart disease is the main reason for this. In this case, the blood veins that bring blood to the heart muscle get blocked or get too small.

A lot of stress can be put on the heart and cause it to fail. This is called hypertension. The heart muscle gets cardiomyopathy, and it can be hard to figure out where it comes from.

Heart valve problems: If you don't treat heart problems like aortic stenosis or mitral regurgitation, you could end up with heart failure.

Heart issues that were there at birth

These things could mean you have heart failure:

Running out of breath, especially when you sit down or move around.

Being weak and tired.

In the gut, legs, knees, feet, or anywhere else in the body

One that beats quickly or unevenly.

A cough or wheeze that won't go away, and there may be pink mucus in the throat.

Suddenly putting on weight.

People with heart failure are generally told to change how they live and take medicine. Sometimes they are given medical treatments or surgery. It is the goal of these steps to help the heart pump blood better and address the reasons behind heart failure.

People who have heart failure should work closely with their doctors to make a personalized treatment plan. Their doctors should also keep a close eye on them periodically. With the right care, many people with heart failure can live full lives.
