The Challenges of Covid-19 for Pakistan's Healthcare System

Combating the coronavirus put a country's technical infrastructure and healthcare system to the test. With the help of technology, several countries were able to respond quickly to the disaster. It was a huge challenge to not only test and isolate the covid patients, but also to track down and isolate their contacts from the previous two weeks.

Given its poor healthcare system, Pakistan, like every other developing nation, was hit hard by the coronavirus. Another thing was technology. Pakistan initially struggled with its research capabilities as well. Some of the country's major challenges included private hospital services, corona updates in Pakistan, and maintaining social distance.

Several cities have covid isolation centres set up by provincial governments. Their facilities, on the other hand, were an issue. Because of the horrifying encounters that some had, many people avoided going to isolation centres. It was a state of anarchy and mayhem unlike any other.

The country's declining healthcare system did its utmost to combat the pandemic. There was a lot of outside help, particularly from China. China showed its friendship and unwavering support by providing large PPE materials, testing kits, and medical professional training. For the care of patients, private hospitals built separate corona wards. The Aga Khan University Hospital has a long history of doing covid research and treating covid patients. Inside the hospital, SOPs are strictly followed to ensure the highest level of disinfection and monitor the spread of hospital-transmitted viruses. The hospital also provided instruction to its medical professionals and staff on how to put on PPE, treat patients, and observe standard operating procedures (SOPs) during care.

As the country progresses into the second wave, things have significantly changed. Private hospital services, as well as corona updates in Pakistan, have improved dramatically. People must, however, exercise extreme caution and caution. Face masks and social distancing are strongly recommended. People should avoid going to crowded places when the virus is still active. Things are supposed to improve with time as the vaccine programme is implemented. The first people to be vaccinated were healthcare employees. Senior citizens are being vaccinated in the second process. The majority of the age groups are vaccinated in the third process. People must exercise restraint at least before a national vaccination programme is implemented.
